We have the following upcoming events from LGBT+ Committee...
Fundraiser Quiz: Albert Kennedy Trust Foundation
On December 12th we will be joining with the LGBT Staff Network and Save Our Sandwiches (a student group that collects food waste from around campus and redistributes it to food banks) to raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust Foundation (an LGBT+ Homelessness Charity).

Fundraiser Quiz: Estranged LGBT+ Students Christmas Meal
On November 22nd we collaborated with Welfare Committee and raised over £60 for an amazing cause. The LGBT+ Officer at Hallam is hosting a meal for LGBT+ students at both unis that don't have a family to spend time with this Christmas, and the money raised will be going towards food and decorations for this meal!
Misogyny in Queer Spaces Disucssion Event
Our Women's Welfare Officer, Georgina hosted one of our new discussion events on the topic of misogyny in queer spaces and the event was open to all self-defining women or people with non-binary identities that include woman.
Queerness In Faith Panel Discussion
As part of Interfaith Week, on November 16th we had a panel event in Coffee Revs which discussed the relationship between queerness and faith. There were LGBT+ student representatives from Christian, Jewish and Muslim backgrounds, as well as a guest speaker, Jo Henerson-Merrygold, an academic who has focused her work on LGBT+ representation in religious texts.
Grindr Discussion Event
Our Men's Welfare Officer, Declan, hosted out first welfare discussion event and the topic was Grindr, it was really interesting to hear students open up on their experiences of body image, racism, and transphobia on Grindr.
Get Outta Town - Leeds
Get Outta Town is the new name for our big city trips. We aim to be doing a few different scene crawls this year of cities outside of Sheffield to see if the grass really is greener and first on the list was Leeds. Other unis including York, York St. Johns, Leeds and Leeds Beckett were all in attendance for a great night!
EGM
We held our EGM (Emergency General Meeting) on October 10th and elected students for the following roles:
Guest Speaker: Terre Thaemlitz
On October 7th we joined together with PPG and Small Ideas Society for a guest speaker event. The guest speaker, Terre, is a transgender DJ living in Japan and they spoke to us about subcultures within music as well as their experience as a transgender DJ and their opinions on the role of the internet in the distribution of art.
Freshers Week Bar Crawl
Over a hundred students joined us in Week 1 for a bar crawl route of The Edge - Bar One - Beehive - Vodka Revs - OMG - Reflex
